To celebrate St George the Patron Saint of England and of Scouting and to celebrate our founder Lord Baden-Powell, Squirrel Scouts, Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts from the 38th Rossendale joined other Scouters from Rossendale to mark the occasion. Due to the COVID outbreak, this was the first parade since 2019.
Parading from Whitaker Park everyone made their way to St. Mary’s Church. A service was to follow which would see several Young People presented their Chief Scout Awards which also included a Commissioner Commendation Award and District St George’s Day Award for one of our Young Leaders.
The first King Scout Award was presented to Adam Hanson an Assistant Scout Leader at the 38th Rossendale. Many congratulations to Adam.
Leaders were recognised also with their Wood Badges for completing training along with Service Awards and two more Commissioner Commendation Awards for Nathan Ashworth and Pete West, both Scout Leaders at the 38th.
The 38th Rossendale were the host Group so a special mention to the 22 young volunteers who assisted on the day by carrying a flag, reading a prayer, or reciting their Section Promises as part of the occasion.
