Thirteen very excited Squirrel Scouts descended on our Warren headquarters for our very first Squirrel Sleepover on Saturday 1st April 2023.
The Squirrels very quickly got on with their first activity for the 24-hour stay which was Easter Craft related which also included colouring a coaster and place mat that would be used later to set a table as part of their All About Me Challenge Award.
Following an afternoon snack, the Squirrels prepared themselves for a hike to and around the Marl Pits leisure centre. Walking in pairs the Squirrels were well behaved and even spotted a Squirrel on a sign as they walked past.
Returning to the Warren it was time for tea. The spaghetti bolognaise going down well with everyone.
After tea the Squirrels played some games before heading off to the campfire circle.
They enjoyed the campfire songs (especially “Everywhere we go”) but not as much as the marshmallow s’mores that were to follow.
It was now time to get ready for bed and chill whilst watching the “Hop” film.
Following the film, the Squirrels retired to the camp shelters that would form their bedrooms for the night. It was not long before they were all asleep, the girls winning that race.
After a not to early a start on the Sunday morning, the Squirrels enjoyed their breakfast followed by more Easter craft including colouring a bag for the Easter Egg Hunt.
Searching the Warren grounds, the Squirrels had to look for coloured egg pictures with their initials on to spell out their name. Just two of the 120 eggs were not found. As a bonus they each received some small chocolate Easter eggs to eat.
Following lunch, it was nearly time to go home, but just time to play with some garden games before their parents arrived.
The Squirrels did themselves proud and were well deserving of their All About Adventure Challenge, All About Me Challenge and their Nights and Hikes Away Staged Activity Badges.
