Scouts from Grey and Red Troop undertook their first expedition of the year.
The ten Scouts made an early start setting off from Waterfoot centre and heading towards the Warren. Here they discovered that their route had been blocked by groundworks. Thankfully they all managed to navigate an alternative route to get back on track.
They then had to climb up the hill to Cowpe Lowe. This definitely woke them up! At the top they then headed over towards the Dearden Wood campsite in Edenfield, stopping for lunch on route.
The Scouts arrived at camp at about 2 pm where they then started to erect their tents for the night. After they were finished, they helped the Warden on site to chop wood and move it to the wood store.
They then stopped for dinner and relaxed playing cards. Later they all gathered around the campfire with plenty of wood to keep them warm as a reward for helping earlier. They were all tucked up and ready to sleep by 11 pm.
A relaxed start to the day saw the Scouts getting a lie in until 8 am followed by breakfast and tidying their belongings.
They then set off to their finish point at Nuttall Park, Ramsbottom where they arrived around 1:30pm, leaving enough time for fun in the park before parents arrived at 2pm.
