In late 2020, the Scout Association setup a national fundraiser #RaceRoundTheWorld with the aim of raising £300,000 to help the 500 Scout Group who were at risk of closing due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, by racing in teams – hiking, cycling, or running miles locally – Scouters would be challenged to travel virtually round the world.

The 38th Rossendale opened this challenge to its Members who by taking part contributed £580.00 to the fund.

Grey Troop Scout Emily took this challenge to heart and as well as hiking over the moors of Rossendale for over 25 miles, she raised £290.00 of the total raised by the Group.

Emily’s story as to why she wanted to help with the fundraiser was shown on the Sky New FYI programme which can be viewed here.

Emily also recorded a video for the Group telling them her story and encouraging everyone to return to face-to-face Scouting as soon as was practically possible.  That video can be viewed here.

Well done to everyone who took part and a special thank you to Emily who deserves a very loud B-R-A-V-O!!
