First booked in the Autumn of 2019 for a planned camp in the Summer of 2020, finally Purple Pack Cubs made it to Linnet Clough Campsite near Stockport in June 2022.
Arriving on the Friday evening, the Cubs settled into their dormitories before familiarising themselves with the site and playing some games.
A supper of crumpets and toast satisfied their hunger pangs, before settling down for the night.
Most of the Cubs were up early on the Saturday morning ready for their cooked breakfast at 8:00 am.
They were then split into two groups ready for the day’s activities.
The first of these was the Climbing Tower where the Cubs tackled the “Jacobs Ladder”. This proved a challenge for them with few getting past the first rung of the ladder.
Another popular activity was the Caving Bus. The darkness and tight twists and turns was much more difficult to deal with than most had thought.
Something more sedate was to follow in the form of 9-hole Pitch & Put with some Cubs showing amazing skills.
A campfire with some Cubs from Bolton was to follow the burgers laid on for tea.
Winding down with the Monsters Inc University film rounded off the day.
The traditional Scouting skills of Archery and putting up a tent were put to the test on the Sunday morning before lunch, a visit to the camp shop and the traditional way of rounding off the Purple Pack camp with a water fight.
