Over the 4th and 5th February 2023 Grey Scout Troop descended on our Warren headquarters.
17 Scouts with Young Leaders and Leaders turned up at 11am on the Saturday morning. The first task was to all make a clay ornament bird. They were then split into three groups. One group started making lunch for everyone whilst the other two groups started clearing wood and Jeans Garden.
After having burgers, crisps and attempted veg for lunch we started litter picking around the local area and the Warren grounds. All the old planters were taken apart and burned. All the soil was moved, and the area flattened. Whilst one group was doing this the others were cleaning up from lunch and repairing the wood store. Then they started to clear the leaves away and collect sticks for dreamcatchers.
The Scouts did this till around 5pm. Then we all got washed and ready for tea. The oven has been temperamental recently, so we decided to treat them to a chippy tea. Ashtons stepped up and provided 29 meals for us all. The Scouts devoured this then set up some shelters for the night inside the warren. After getting changed some Scouts chose to do paracording, whilst others chose to watch a film.
Later on, we had hot chocolate with biscuits then settled down for the night.
The Scouts slept soundly all night and were woken at 8am ready for breakfast. The kitchen team started cooking the bacon and pancakes. Fruit was cut up also to go with cereal.
After breakfast we finished cleaning Jeans Garden and the wood store. The Scouts then made Dreamcatchers whilst waiting for parents to pick up.
The weekend was a massive success, and the Scouts can be proud that they helped to maintain the Warren.
