A group of 12 Explorer Scouts undertook a practice expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh award.

After a 10KM hike around the valley (stopping for the obvious photo shoot on Seat Naze the unit’s namesake), the Explorers then had to pitch their tents and cook their evening meal on Trangias.

A fire was started using gathered wood and lit by flint and steel to warm hands and faces before a chilly night under canvas.

The main purpose of the expedition was to ensure that all kit could handle cold temperatures and that navigation, camp setup and cooking skills were up to standard.

All passed with flying colours!
