Approaching 50 Beavers made up from Grey and Purple Beaver Colonies, came together over the weekend of the 19th to 21st May for their annual Sleepover. This year at the Bowley Scout Campsite near Great Harwood.
Arriving on the Friday night, the Beavers firstly settled into their dormitories or their tents ready for the evenings main activity which was a hike into Great Harwood for a chippy supper.
Despite the best efforts of the Leaders to tyre them out, many Beavers were still active for most of the night.
Following breakfast and the 9:00 am Flag Break, the Beavers readied themselves for a full day of activities on the Saturday. This consisted of Splatterpults, Paddleboarding, the Leap of Faith and Crate Stacking.
Prior to a full roast dinner, the Beavers decorated picture frames as gifts for their parents which contained a photo of each of them taken on arrival at the camp. They also prepared campfire blankets.
On Sunday following their breakfast, flag break and packing, the Beavers tried a spot of Soft Archery and made some bird feeders.
The final activity of the weekend consisted of learning how to put up a tent as part of their Campcraft Activity Badge and of course the all-important trip to the camp shop.
Following tea, they made their way to the campfire where they enjoyed some traditional songs and of course marshmallow s’mores.
To finish off the day they watched a film before retiring to bed very tied from little sleep the night before and a busy day.
As well as Campcraft the Beavers will have earnt their Outdoor Challenge Badge, their Adventure Badge, their Time on the Water, a Hikes Away and 1 or 2 Nights Away depending on if they stayed both evenings.
Well done to them all and a massive thank you to the Leaders and Young Leaders who made the camp such a success.
