We are pleased to announce that Abigail has been awarded the Jean Smith Award as our outstanding Scouter of the Year.
Bev Pickering-Smith, the daughter of Jean Smith who reviewed all eight anonymous nominations for the Award in honour of her late mother, commented that she had chosen Abigail because “I believe in recognising people who get it right all the time but don’t do anything to shout about things to help them stand out.“
Abigail was also the winner of the Purple Pack Cub of the Year Award. Abigail was nominated by her Section team because of Scouting consistently with her whole heart. She is supportive of her peers and a brilliant team player. Her dedication and commitment has been evident from day one.
A fine turnout of parents and young people were there to witness the announcement of the Award which followed on from the appointment of the Group Trustees Board for the 2024-25 year.
The Squirrel Scout of the Year Award went to Mi Mi, the Grey Colony Award went to Mabel, the Purple Colony Award to Robin, and the Grey Pack Award went to Brayden.
The Scout Awards went to Brodie from Grey Troop, Ellie from Purple Troop, and Millie from Red Troop.
All eight award recipients were nominated for the Jean Smith Award.
Two Squirrels received their Acorn Award, one Beaver received their Chief Scout Bronze Award, four Cubs received their Chief Scout Silver Award and ten Scouts their Chief Scout Gold Award.
Leader Tasha Ready received her 10-years service award.
Many congratulations to all the Award recipients.
