Providing three nights away on a weekend camp is difficult, but this is the criteria amongst many other things for a Cub Scout to gain their Chief Scout Silver Award.

The answer to this appears to run two weekend camps and it was with that in mind that Purple Pack held their second camp of the year.

Arriving on the Saturday morning the first task of the day was to put up their tents.

With mission accomplished the Cubs then went to the nearby recreation ground to play a wide-game.

It was then time for lunch, but that was not as easy as it sounds as the Cubs had to cook and prepare the Pasta Bolognese using camping stoves.

Once lunch was all cleaned up the Cubs prepared themselves for a walk into the nearby town of Rawtenstall to take part in the Christmas lantern parade.  Following this they performed Christmas songs as part of the Christmas Lights Switch-on in the town centre.

Cub Scout Dorothea and Grey Pack Cub Scout Havana deserve a special mention.  They performed solo and duet performances to the watching crowd.

Returning to the Warren for hot-chocolate and marshmallows roasted over the campfire, the Cubs then settled down to watch a film before retiring to bed at about 11:00 pm.

Overnight the temperatures dropped to -3 degrees but this did not phase the Cubs who slept on until 7:00 am.

A full English breakfast followed by packing of the tents rounded off the end of a great weekend.
