Pictured are four of our Beavers Scouts receiving a certificate from the Mayor of Rossendale Councillor Thomas Aldred to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Beavers at the 38th.

The year was 1984 when a much younger Beaver Scout Leader, Andrew Cooper was involved in forming one of the first Beaver Colonies in the country and the first in East Lancashire.

Beaver Scouting has proven to be a very popular Section within the Scout movement and this is certainly the case at the 38th with two thriving colonies and a constant demand for places.

The award was given to recognise the work of volunteer organisations within the Rossendale Valley and in particular the 38th Rossendale (Open) Scout Group who have over 180 children meet across six Sections on a weekly basis.

Andrew said he was pleased that this milestone had been recognised by the Borough Council and that he was looking forward to working with the Beavers for many more years to come.
