Sixteen members of Grey Beaver Colony enjoyed a full weekend of activities at Bowley International Campsite.
Their weekend started on the Friday evening once settled into their dormatories with a hike into Great Harwood for a chippy supper. Hot chocolate greeted them on the return to the Bowley Lodge.
Saturday saw the Beavers busy with activities.
Firstly, the Zip Wire which put many a smile on the Beavers faces.
Equal if not more fun was the Paddle Boarding. It was not obligatory to get wet but try telling the Beavers that.
Soft Archery and Den Building finished off the main activities for the first day.
Saturday also saw the Beavers complete some craftwork by painting and assembling a bird box and making themselves a campfire blanket complete with a “I’ve been on a Beaver Sleepover” badge.
The campfire (complete with new blankets) started off the Saturday evening followed by cooking marshmallows and a film to wind-down at the end of the day.
They were pleased that Members of Grey Cub Pack were able to join them for the morning flag-break and the campfire.
Sunday the Beavers went on a blind trail, honing their knot tying skills by making an “Ojo de dios” (Spanish for Gods Eye) and learning how to put up a tent.
A visit to the Bowley shop finished off the very busy weekend.
The Beavers gained their Nights Away Staged Activity Badge, Hikes Away Staged Activity Badge, Time on the Water Staged Activity Badge, My Outdoor Challenge Award, My Adventure Challenge Award and the Campcraft Activity Badge. Well done to them all!
