Spirits were surprisingly high at 1:30 am when a contingent of 88 set-off in two coaches for our 12-hour trip to Ardres in Northern France. Making the ferry from Dover to Calais in plenty of time, we had a short drive on reaching the “other side” and arrived on camp for lunchtime. A variety of activities were lined up for the week consisting of Canoeing, Stand up Paddle Boarding, High Ropes, “Nightline”, Kayaking, Raft Building, Archery, “Mission Impossible”, Climbing, Kata Kanu and Fencing. For many the Wednesday evening walk to the local ice cream shop was a much anticipated highlight. The large cone, three scoops and a swirl of ice cream on top did not disappoint. Thursday morning was taken up with a trip to the local market where many of our members were keen to buy gifts for family back home. The “Acorn’s got Talent” evening drew many a smile which was rounded off with a presentation of certificates for camp activities. Everyone was packed up early on the Friday morning for the trip back home. The visit was a huge success and we hope to return again. Presented here are a series of photos more of which can be viewed in our Facebook album. |
