We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Jean Smith Award for our outstanding Scouter of the year was Reuben.
He was picked as the winner of his Section Award by his Section Leaders for his regular attendance, his positive presence and energy and also his willingness to help others.
Also because he works whole heartedly at the tasks presented to him and is fully committed to his Scouting.
Reuben was short-listed for the Award with the seven other Section winners. Citations were sent to Bev Pickering-Smith the daughter of Jean Smith for her to review and to make a decision on who should win the 2025 Award in her late mother’s name.
Bev commented that Reuben had been chosen because “It was his positivity and kindness that stood out to her”.
Very well-done Reuben. Well, deserved and congratulations.
Leaders and parents from the Group were there to witness the announcement of the Award which followed on from the Section Awards and the appointment of the Group Trustees Board for the 2025-26 year.
The Squirrel Scout of the Year Award went to Evelyn, the Grey Colony Award went to Ethan, the Purple Colony Award to another Ethan, the Grey Pack Award went to Luna and the Purple Pack Award went to Aimee.
The Scout Awards went to Reuben from Grey Troop, Sienna from Purple Troop, and Aila from Red Troop.
All eight award recipients were nominated for the Jean Smith Award.
Four Squirrels received their Acorn Award, eight Beavers received their Chief Scout Bronze Award, two Cubs received their Chief Scout Silver Award and two Scouts their Chief Scout Gold Award.
Leaders who had received Service Awards over the past year and one King Scout Award were also mentioned.
Many congratulations to all the Award recipients.
