Following the event, Deputy Major Councillor Granville Morris said “I would like to thank everyone at the 38th Rossendale (Open) Scout Group for the invitation extended to me to attend their AGM and Annual Awards Event as Rossendales Deputy Mayor and accompanied by the Deputy Mayoress (my wife Susan) which was held today Sunday the 18th October 2015.  I would like to say how inspiring it was to see the voluntary support given by a committed and dedicated group of people to ensure young boys & girls learning life skills, confidences and character building qualities. Which was seen to be evident, in the way the young children gave their presentations of the enjoyment they had, with the experiences they have gained.  Under the watchful eye of their supporting mentors which then lead to the presentation of the achievements to many of the children from each section of the Scout Group. With the support of all the other children from their own Sections, was good to see.  Well done to all the Children on their successes, and good luck for the future to everyone.  Sincere kind regards, Councillor Granville Morris. Deputy Mayor of Rossendale.”
