If there was ever an opportunity for our members to make their Leaders proud, then the annual St. George’s Day parade would be it.

This year was no exception when representatives of our two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs and our two Scout Troops turned out in force.  They were joined by members of the Seat Naze and Cribden Venture Scout Units as well as other Groups from around the Rossendale Valley.

Parading the short distance from Whitaker Park in Rawtenstall to St. Mary’s Church the line of 38th members seemed to stretch almost the whole distance.

During the service, 17 Beaver Scouts received their Chief Scout Bronze Award, 18 Cub Scouts received their Chief Scout Silver Award and 4 Scouts received their Chief Scout Gold Award.

As if this was not enough, four Leaders from the 38th were presented with their “Wood Badges” for completing their Leader Training.

Finally, Group Scout Leader Louise Cooper was awarded the Silver Acorn for “specially distinguished service”.
