This year Grey Pack Cubs decided it was time to explore the local area, so they camped at Dearden Wood in Edenfield.
They all met on the field nearby and were all very excited, they waved goodbye to their parents and walked up to campsite.
On arrival everyone helped to set up the 8 tents that were needed. Following this, they sat round the campfire with cake and had a good old sing along.
Everyone woke up early on the Saturday morning for what was going to be a busy day.
They had a quick breakfast of huge pastries with jam in and set off on the long walk into Rawtenstall.
They got to Rawtenstall late morning ready for a day at the Friendship Festival.
They had a scavenger hunt around the museum and enjoyed a tour of the Cabinet of Curiosity with Anne who had lots of knowledge to share. She gave them some magnifying glasses so they could look at all the weird and wonderful things in the cabinet.
Everyone was starving so they decided to go and have a picnic in the park.
When they had finished, they were in for a treat. They all went to listen to a story about Adams mum who sang to us about tango mango.
She even gave them some mango lassi to try. She was so good, and the Cubs really enjoyed the story and some even asked if we could make mango kulfi one night too.
Once the story finished, they headed off for a quick trip to the park.
On the way home the Cubs were all a bit hungry, so they nipped to the shop for Cornetto’s that definitely helped the walk up the hill.
The walk was long and hard, but they got there in the end.
When they got back Jessy got the outdoor pizza oven fired up to make tea.
They all made their own pizzas to enjoy with vegetables and crisps.
The Cubs then had a few games and even made a new friend called Jenson.
Then they decided to go paddling in the local stream /river where they had lots of fun!
They rounded off the night with posh smore’s and all went to bed very happy but tired.
On the Sunday everyone woke up a bit later as they were shattered from the day before.
They packed up the Leaders van with their kit ready for it to be driven down to their parents.
They had a quick breakfast of pastries and set off on yet another walk to Rawtenstall.
When they got there, they all went tubing at Ski Rossendale. It was a fun way to spend an hour!
Their parents picked everyone up and everyone left happy and full of sweets ready for an afternoon nap.
