It was on Wednesday 6th April 1951 that the 38th Rossendale (Open) Scout Group held its first meeting.

60-years to the day later the Group held an all-Sections meeting to mark the occasion of our diamond anniversary.

95-children representing the Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scout Sections attended a special all-section meeting.  A professional photographer was on hand to the capture the moment.  The photo above was a quick snap taken during the preparation for the all-Group photo that also included the Leaders.  The real photo will be on-sale in the next few weeks.

Following on from the photo-shoot a Scouts Own Service was held.  Everyone was asked to think what life was like in 1951 not many years after the end of the Second World War.  Food and clothes were still rationed, no colour television, home computers or mobile phones existed.  They also learnt a little about the Groups history and achievements over the years.

The evening was rounded off with a hot-dog supper.
