Grey Beaver Colony visited Whitaker Park in Rawtenstall to see the work undertaken by “Incredible Edible“.

Incredible Edible Rossendale has a 2020 vision for self sufficiency in the towns of the Rossendale Valley.

They aim to encourage residents to grow their own produce either on their own land or on community land tended by IER volunteers.

They aim to educate everyone on the benefits of eating fresh food and introduce them to foods previously alien to them.

They also aim to offer locally produced foods through our shops thereby increasing business potential and supporting local trade.

The Beavers took the opportunity to taste some of the growing food; they helped with the construction of the “bug hotel” and asked lots of questions of the Incredible Edible representative.

This visit will go towards the Beavers Global Challenge Badge.
