Our Beaver Scout Colony recently held a Scouts Own Service for their families. Five weeks of preperation went into the evening but the Beavers were awarded with the presentation of their Faith Badge and Promise Challenge Badge. The evening started with a prayer followed by a hymn sung by the children. The Colony then split into two Groups then performing the parable of the feeding of the 4000 and the other a moral based around the story of Barney the Beaver Scout. The Assistant District Commissioner for Rossendale Beaver Scouts then presented some of the hard working Beavers with their Chief Scout Bronze Awards.
Nestled above the hills of Haslingden in the Rossendale Valley, the Halo is an 18-metre diameter steel lattice structure supported on a tripod 5 meters above ground level.
The “Panopticon” is one of four landmark sculptures of its type in East Lancashire managed by Mid Pennine Arts to symbolise the renaissance of the area.
Illuminated in the evenings it makes for an impressive sight so what better place to take a Cub Pack on a torch light walk.

Eight members of our Beaver Colony took part in the Rossendale District Curling Competition. Eight teams from across the Borough battled to win the trophy and represent Rossendale at the County competition. The eventual winners after seven rounds were the 5th Rossendale. Our Beavers came a very respectable third place. Well done to all that took part!
A Halloween evening of fun was enjoyed by family & friends at our annual Bonfire & Firework display. A roaring fire and an excellent firework display entertained the visitors. Trays of chips and pies along with cholcolate apples were eagerly devoured by adults and the children alike. A raffle was held and one lucky Beaver won a yard of Jaffa cakes! Don’t eat them all at once! Thank you to all that supported the event.
